Small-Town Girl, Big Design Dreams
My design career has grown right alongside my life, one chapter at a time. I started out as a girl from a small town in Korea, imagining myself one day becoming a “fancy designer” somewhere in France, baguette tucked under my arm, biking home from work. Somehow, that dream became my reality. (Minus the biking part, turns out that’s a skill, not just a vibe.)
From there, I chased that dream across three very different design worlds. In Korea, known for its competitive academic culture, I worked at an education company. In France, celebrated for luxury and fashion, I designed for glamorous fashion and beauty brands. And two years ago, I landed in Canada, where outdoorsy activities and wellness are practically a way of life (count me in!) and joined an athleisure company.
For me, design was never just a career. It became my way of understanding each industry, each culture and each place I called home. And along the way, a way of understanding myself. I took the long way around to figure out who I am, not just as a designer, but as a person. And I’m happy with where I landed. If you’d like to know more about me beyond the work, keep scrolling!
